The quality of your leadership is revealed by how completely you see the people you lead.
Too often, organizations evaluate employees only through the lens of performance. Yet performance is only one expression of a much larger human story.
As I wrote in The Holistic Leader:
"People are not simply workers. They are individuals with purpose, identity, aspirations, responsibilities, fears, and untapped potential."
When leaders recognize the whole person, conversations change. Development becomes more intentional. Trust grows because people feel understood rather than managed.
This week, consider four questions:
What strengths remain unseen because you're only measuring output?
What aspirations have you never asked your team about?
What barriers are quietly affecting someone's ability to perform?
How might your leadership change if development became as important as delivery?
Leadership is not diminished when we see people more fully. It becomes more effective.
What is one way you've seen a leader unlock potential simply by taking the time to truly understand someone?
